Guest reefer Posted August 2, 2003 Report Posted August 2, 2003 Just had some trouble with my Gal. (96 TDi ) reversing lights and brake lights, no brake lights, reversing lights blowing the fuse. After checking bulbs, holders etc narrowed it down to a wiring fault. To cut a long story short it turned out to be broken and shorted wires inside the Black tube connecting the wiring loom to the tail gate on the upper right side. Obviously the constant movement over the years have broken the wires. So anyone with similar problems it may pay to check the wiring inside the tube first before removing trim, panels etc.Plus I changed the bottom swivel joint on the near side, quite easy, takes about 45 minutes. Guest SA Intruder Posted August 2, 2003 Report Posted August 2, 2003 I've sprayed silicon spray into both rubber tubes on my 130 to reduce friction in the wiring runs. Whether it works or not, who knows. (One of the local airport run taxi firms in Tarleton has just blown seven shades out of his 110 ps with a tuning box - tee hee) Quote
Guest reefer Posted August 3, 2003 Report Posted August 3, 2003 I bet the owner is sick. Probably cost him a fortune to put right. Anyone had problems with the Red LED in the drivers door ?. Quote
Denis Posted September 28, 2003 Report Posted September 28, 2003 I've just experienced the same problem with the wiring loom in the top right hatch area. I didn't blow any fuses but the high level brake light stopped working. Sure enough, the twin wires were badly frayed, one of them broken. I must say the positive feed wire, black/red (I think) they have used seems to be very rigid considering it's repeatedly flexed. And the foam surrounding the wires had dissolved into a horrible gluey mess. Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted September 29, 2003 Report Posted September 29, 2003 Looks like bad design, as per wiring loom into passenger doors. Both sides are at the same "level" so wires flex rather than just "rotating on their axis" as doors/tailgate are opened and closed. Quote
Guest JIMSTDI Posted September 29, 2003 Report Posted September 29, 2003 hi denis is your galaxy under warranty all the best james Quote
gazza007 Posted September 29, 2003 Report Posted September 29, 2003 Had a similar problem with my Laguna Estate. The High level LED brake light went as a result. Not much play in the wires. Renault claimed they had to replace the rear screen along with the LED as it was all contected. I had a real moan and in the end they managed to replace the light unit. Quote
Guest ANDY FITZGERALD Posted October 3, 2003 Report Posted October 3, 2003  NO EXCUSE JUST BAD ATTENTION TO DETAIL BY THE DESIGNERS,CANT BELIEVE SUCH SIMPLE DESIGN MISTAKE COULD BE IMPLEMENTED. Quote

Guest SA Intruder Posted October 5, 2003 Report Posted October 5, 2003 Badly fitted, brakes that is. Ask them to use someone competent to fit replacements. They use kids for price cutting reasons. Safety is secondary to costs with dealers. Quote
